What's missing is the content of that error message - are we supposed to guess?

no your meant to guess, sorry it was this morning when i had the message, and i didnt know of this forum until many hours later....

i actually did uninstall it, cause i thought ive already got number 5, ill go back to that, then found that didnt work now at importing......

i can get to this screen, for importing dvds, but as soon as you just click on what you want to import, mf5 and 6 just crash now....:(

To begin with try the Windows system Restore to see if you can go back to before you tried to install MovieFactory 6+

Have you tried a few different DVDs to see if maybe you might have a bad disc? Try cleaning the DVD to remove any smudges, and fingerprints. Then it may be a problem with your drive itself, incompatible with the type of disk your are trying to import from. One thing that concerns me is that you have this problem with all DMF versions, which also leads me to believe it is a problem with your drive.

I would also make sure the dvd isn't damaged. Try a known good dvd. If the dvd is good then
I would go to the \Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\ and move or rename the complete "Ulead Systems" directory as a backup.
Re-install MF6 again (over itself) or perform a repair.
This way the program is using it's correct distribution files.
The error may have been a locked file running resident in memory under taskmanager.

If you can't re-install the MF6 trial because it's a trial then move or rename that directory I posted and re-install MF5.

I would do that to eliminate any conflicts, providing you think the dvd your trying to import isn't damaged.

ok guys, right ive tried importing a dvd folder, as i have some on the hard drive, it crashes when you click on what you want, the same with loads of dvds i tried...

i used to use mf5 nearly everyday before, it worked perfect...now thats the same....

when you get the import screen up, as soon as you click title or chapter, the black video screen to the left does a brief flash of white, then crashes....

i just hope i still have my mf5 installation files somewhere, as i got an download upgrade from number 4.....

You can do a google search to try and find a download or you can use a similar font.
