Burning Sony AVCHD Files to Blue-Ray Disc

Post by joshua »

Would someone please explain how I can burn the files from my Sony HDR-SR1 (AVCHD format) to a disc that will play in my blue-ray player.

So far, I have learned that using Sony's software to pull the files renders the file extensions as m2ts whereas if I remove them manually I get the .MTS extension. In short, I have bothe sets archived now. What I don't grasp is how to take these files and burn them into a playable blue-ray disc.

Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Have you tried mirroring your harddisk in the cam to a Blu-ray disk or dvd and tried playing that in your Blu-Ray disk player.
Just curious, I would think it should be similar to the BDAV mode except using the AVCHD file format.
I don't have a Blu-Ray Burner.

I was also wondering if the removable harddisk in these cams can be inserted into one of the Playstation 3 cardslot readers and possibly playback the videos.

Thanks etech6355 for the advice... so far I have tried several methods including the MF BD burner. I have also tried recreating the file structure with Nero and used Roxio Media Creator 9 - all of those methods failed in the LG BH100 (HD-Video and Blue-Ray Multi Video Player). I always get a disc error and self eject... One or two I tried playing on my PC Blue-ray burner and they played. It seems to be that the LG BH100 either demands a certain file format structure or just doesn't support file playing.
I am still plodding along trying different things to see if I can get the answer, fortunately I am using rewritable discs :D
Thanks for the help, I will continue and hope to solve it. If in the meantime anyone can provide an answer I woule really appreciate the input.
The BH100 states (in part) that it supports MPEG-2, MPEG4 AVC (H.264) and SMPTE VC1 (1920x1080 HD and 1280x720 HD). But also states (in part) BD-ROM is a new and evolving format. Accordingly, disc compatability issues with new and existing format discs are possible. Not all discs are compatible and not every disc will play back. (etc.,) This player supports only BD-ROM Profile 1 version 1.0 specifications.
If or when I find a solution, I will of course post it for all.
Thanks again etech6355
