I am capturing analogue tapes through a Canopus ADVC55 and storing them as DV on my PC.
The curious thing is that if I capture say a 5 min. section the time code reading on the botttom RHS of the preview screen sticks at 5 mins even when I restart a brand new capture. It does not appear to be reading the time code from the tape. It can not be manually reset to zero using the toggels below the time code reader. Even if I close VS9 and reopen it that darned 5mins is still sitting there in the preview screen bottom RHS.
Any ideas - it's a darned nuisance trying to capture video and the time just increments

Re: Time Code Does not reset
As far as I am aware the timecode is something that relates to digital capture not analogue.Vincej wrote:I am capturing analogue tapes through a Canopus ADVC55 and storing them as DV on my PC.

If you are talking about the Display Source Video Timecode under the Capture viewing window, forget about it. I have the Canopus 300 and like you am doing analog to digital. There is no time code.Vincej wrote:I am capturing analogue tapes through a Canopus ADVC55 and storing them as DV on my PC.

What bugs me is that when I go to the capture window, that time automatically starts. It took me awhile to figure out that it's a meaningless number the way I am set up. As long as it's running you can view the incoming images.
You can try and hit the Play button at the same time as the VCR, but you will always bit a bit off. You can reset it by hitting the Rewind button and then the Play button.
