dvds lack audio on certain players

Hi ,
Can anyone explain the problem or what to do if a DVD slideshow plays fine on a dvd recorder but not on some players. I switched from dvd + r to dvd-r thinking this was the problem but it was not. I didn't have this problem with the first disc I created. Do you have to finalize some discs? Any suggestions? It just doesn't make sense why it is happening now as I had no problems before.
