"file format mismatch" message when creating mpg f

I have so far created two dvd's using VS10+ and am happy. I have run into problems with the present one. It appears to be due to the fact that I am including both video clips captured in mpg format from my camcorder, and files which I captured from a PAL dvd. However, these files were captured in NTSC format so they should be compatible with the video clips. In fact I ran a test in which I created a dvd only using these PA to NTSC converted files and I was able to watch the dvd on a player that only accepts NTSC.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I pushing VS10+ beyond its capabilities?
