Hi -
This is a bit esoteric but I'm hoping someone here has relevant experience....
I need to grab a video of someone making a powerpoint presentation. Getting a clear video of the slides and good audio of the speaker is more important than a video of the speaker's face. Rather than try to capture all the detail by videotaping the presentation screen, I was thinking of using Camstudio ( www.camstudio.org ) to capture a "screen movie" which is literally a compressed video of the screen, including all the clicks, mouse moves, etc. Camstudio uses a variety of codecs, but the one that works best is called "MSU screen capture lossless codec" and it's described here:
http://www.***/video/ls-code ... ec_en.html
This codec outputs an avi formatted file. I was able to open the file in VS 10+ after tweaking a bunch of settings as to number of frames per second and the compression method and rate for the audio part (captured by a mic connected to the PC's mic input port). Until I got the tweaks right, VS10+ would start out ok, but then gradually the sound would get out of synch and after a couple minutes it would crash.
To post the resulting video on youtube I started rendering it to mpeg under "share / create video file" but VS kept crashing.
Is there something I can do to bring files of this format (or if not this, then files from techsmith's snag it capture program - which can also capture screen movies) into VS10+? Is there some codec I need to install into VS? Do I need to run the file through some external converter before tryign to bring it into VS?
This is all pretty new for me. All suggestions greatly appreciated!
