My apologies if this topic has been covered before but I'm looking at possibly purchasing the Sony SR1 which records in this format. I see that the DVD Movie Factory 6+ does indeed allow editing of AVCHD but am I wrong to assume that VideoStudio 10+ will too?
Thanks in advance.

But hopefully the forthcoming version 11 will.

Thanks vidoman. It's a pleasure to be here. And yes black, hopefully it'll be supported by all the major software companies. It least there's a program Ulead has made that'll let a person edit it but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger on the SR1, especially when I took a peek on JVC's site. They're getting to launch a HDD based camcorder, 3 ccd hi def camera that looks like it'll kick Sony's bootay and records to the HD in MPEG2 format which is editable on just about any NLE. We'll see how this plays out but I like the telemacro feature in Sony's cam. I use it often in my work and currently own the HC1.
Thanks again!

As far as I can tell you won't be able to natively edit in the AVCHD format. You'll have to convert the AVCHD to a more editable format such as hd-mpeg2 or cineform. I noticed when using the AVCHD cams the fluid motion doesn't look as good as the Sony's tape units that record in hd-mpeg2. Maybe just me but they look somewhat similar to an interlaced video partly converted to frame-based.I see that the DVD Movie Factory 6+ does indeed allow editing of AVCHD
I may be mistaken about this.
