Audio problems in exported video

Post by fastdots »

Greetings all,

I am new to VS10+ (but well versed with AV, compression and the MPEG standards), and have used it successfully a few times to create and burn DVDs. I ran into a strange problem a couple of days ago. I captured a 1 hour 35 minute HD video from my DVR to disk (1920x1080i). I then used ffmpeg to downsample the HD stream to 6000 kbps VBR, 720x480 16x9 MPEG2 for the video and keep the existing audio (AC3 2 channel 384 kbps). The downsampled video file plays fine in WMP 10 as well as VLC.

Next, I added that to my VS10 project, edited out the commercials and tried creating a DVD as well as tried exporting it to an MPEG2 file (I tried keeping the same settings as well as changing the export settings). The video plays fine, but the audio is weird - a tiny clip keeps repeating endlessly, and if I play a different part of the video, a different, but tiny audio clip keeps repeating.

Any help would be much appreciated... thanks!
