Importing dvd clips

Post by Steve aka scud »

Hello,
Just joined because I have a problem.

VS9 installed, does everything asked of so far.

Capture - import DVD/DVD-VR command. Finds DVD in correct drive, shows all the chapters. Click to IMPORT and the progam gives a "not responding" error message. Also the DVD tray will NOT eject the dvd until I re boot.

DVD is a home made from someone else.
Home made DVDs made on my machine - using NERO - I can inport sections to edit and use.

Any ideas please.

Try copying the files from the DVD to your HD, then try importing into VS.

You may also want to try copying the folders to your HD and then running them through FixVTS.

Capture - import DVD/DVD-VR command

Post by Steve aka scud »

Hi, tried accesing import from the file drop down menus - same deal, nothing, stuck DVD in tray till reboot. Have not had time to try recording to hard drive but have just downloaded FIXIT with a view to experimenting.

Thanks to all who have replied, will send a new letter in a day or two when I have time to try the other solutions - odd that homemade DVDs burnt on my PC (Nero) work fine for imports of clips.

Cheers,

Steve

No sound playback in the import DVD preview module?

Post by dodofone »

Hi,
With VS9 I have similar problem but I can have the clip imported without sound running :
a previous error say:

"Failed to begin VIO playback instance in the import DVD preview module.
Report ID: 0x8004095a(2394) "

I installed the UVS9Full_Patch1_5in1 and still no sound.
I reinstalled a fresh system WinXP etc.. have 737Mb, Celeron 2.4Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte, video card ATI etc..

With Ulead DVDmovieFactory3 when I play the clip imported ,have the sound. Where is the ploblem? My clip say video mpeg2 & sound Digital Dolby sound? Maybe miss a plug-in?

Need help?
Ps: if wrong post, I apologize

With VS9, for registered users, there was a free plug-in offered by Ulead for Dolby. You would need to install that plug-in in order to import or create video files with Dolby audio. AFAIK it is no longer available, as support for Dolby is provided with VS10 +.

When you purchased VS9 did you also download and save to CD the optional plug-ins (Dolby and HD)? If so, you can still use/install it. If not then I'm not sure how your able to get it now. If your VS9 is not an SE version and, you registered your program with Ulead, then you might try contacting Ulead customer care to see if they could provide you with a download link.

VS9 - cant import DVD clips.

Post by Steve aka scud »

Solution that worked was where I just copied the VIDEO_TS file from the DVD. Then when accessed from my desktop by the commands file import to timeline etc, insert DVD .. the file I copied was opened, the chapters were all there and the computer could read them. Clips at my finger tips.

Many thenks ,
