Movie Factory 6Plus horizontal tere when rendering SmartMenu

Post by dbastara »

I just purchase Ulead Movie Factory 6 Plus. I have been trying to render DVD menues using the built in menus. The result is always a horizontal tere or break in the the middle of the video for the menu only, the actual video content plays fine. The menu does not. I'm using NTSC 4:3 standard definition.
Is anyone else having this problem? I have put this software on two different Windows XP SP2 computers and have the same problem.

Thanks for any help.

Please identify which menu you are having a problem with and when I get the opportunity I will test it on my copy.

Under Preferences (F6) Hotkey.
There are options for "Anti-Flicker" & Safe Colors.
Those settings are related to the Menus, not the videos. Maybe they will help.

Movie Factory 6 Plus Horizontal Menu tere

Post by dbastara »

The sequence is:
Under Create Menu
Next
Smartmenus
06-OneS01 (it actually can be any menu template)
Preview (Select Pre-render)
Play (Menu will render first anf then start playing with the Horizontal tere)

It will do it every time on either computer I try it on.

Thanks,

David

Dave,
I thought the horizontal tear was on the final dvd when played back in a dvd player.
If it's in the preview screen could be an overlay/directx issue with your video card, or the video card settings.
Could also be the program since doing it on both computers.

If you create a dvd and play the dvd back in the dvd player, or the computer, how does the menus display? Any corruptiion?

Horizontal Tear Movie Factory 6 Plus

Post by dbastara »

As suggested I filled out the support request to ULEAD. It should be noted that Windows Media Player has stopped working on the two computers I tried Movie Factory 6 Plus on. There must be some direct driver conflict.
Window Mediaplayer now crashs on both computers when trying to play a DVD or DVD folder.

Thanks,

David

Splitting for me too

This is incredibly frustrating...

I am getting the same exact problem with all of my menus... The screen is divided and shifted side to side about half way down. It appears like this in the pre-render window and also on the final output.

I just purchased MovieFactory 6 this morning (after years of working with previous versions) and this is the first time I have ever seen an issue like this.

Movie Factory 6 Plus Horizontal Tere

Post by dbastara »

As suggested I went to Ulead Tech support, I did not get a reply.
I'n continueing to look at the problem, I think I found a workaround, at least it seems to be. Each time I open even the same project, I have to go to preferences for the menu, and even though it's set correctly, I have to click on NTSC and then lower field first and apply it.
My menu then renders correctly and plays on a DVD with no horizontal tere.
It seems as if even though the settings are correct when you look at them, they are not real, by going in each time you load the project and setting the preferences, it remembers long enough to render, if you close the project and open again you have to do it again.
