uninstall prev. version of decoder?

I'm getting ready to install windvd 5.0, and I need to unistall the decoder i have. How do I know what decoder I have? If I ignor this message will it not install?

If you really wish to install it, when it shows it will remove some codec pack like InterVideo XPack in order to proceed, just click on Yes.

I installed WinDVD 8 yesterday but already had WinDVD 7. The installation program detected that there was an earlier version and so gave me an option to keep or have deleted the older version.

You have to make a reasoned judgment. Most times it is an obvious choice, get rid of the older one - why would you want to keep it.
Sometimes you may wish to keep an older version, such as
is WinDVD 8 (Silver ) better than WinDVD 7 (Platinum).

I also tend to keep older versions where possible to assist with troubleshooting issues on the forum.
