Hi,
I'm new to dvd editing. I have the ulead video studio 7. I'm getting quite frustrated because I have tried to copy my video to dvd (twice) without success. Everytime I go to burn it, I check that I have enough storage on the dvd, which I do but the dvd stops about 10 mins before its due to finish. It has happened twice and in the same spot even though the 2nd time I edited more out just in case there wasn't enough room. What am I doing wrong???

dvd ending early
Hi
You are talking to a real novice here. I don't understand half the stuff you are talking about. All I know is the file is 2GB and runs for 36mins 23 sec. I captured it from my digital cannon video to the hard drive on the computer and then planned to put it on dvd. I use windows xp. What is this file system NTFS or FAT32??? Where do i find that information out?? I haven't downloaded any patches. Should I?? As far as i know its an avi file and the project settings say MPEG Prop for file conversion. I really haven't changed any settings because I don't know what I'm doing. I thought this would be so easy. Thats what they told me in the shop. Now I think I'm way over my head. Thanks for replying but if you do send more info, can you talk in English as I'm very slow. Thanks for your help.

Hi Fairyfloss
1. If your video is too large to fit onto disc, you will receive a warning and the burning process will not start.
As a guide you can fit one hour of full quality video onto a standard disc. A little over that and you are pushing your luck. Your 36 mins should fit easily.
2. With the video clip in the timeline, select and right click choose properties. This is the video clip properties.(the settings you used to capture the video).
Capturing from a digital camera via Firewire connection uses 13 Gb of memory. Your 36 mins should be about half of that 7 Gb.
3. If you managed to capture 7 Gb without problem (as one file) then your file system will be Ntsc.
(This is good as Fat 32 has a 4Gb limit.) You can check from My Computer / right click your drive (C:/) select properties.
4. After you completed the editing did you ‘create a video file’ then use the new file to burn a dvd or did you burn a dvd from the project in the timeline?????????????
It is recommended that you capture, edit, create video file, use the new file to burn dvd.
5. Read the top post titled (Please read this before posting……) note the tutorials.
