Burner Not Found ERROR - HELP!!

Post by eheber »

I just downloaded Movie Factory 6 Plus and I keep getting the error message "Burner Not Found"! I have a brand new HP Pavilion desktop with a Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD drive that can burn HD DVD's for goodness sakes! So I AM SURE I HAVE A DVD BURNER! Can anyone help me with this problem? I tried to call Ulead tech support but there is no way to get through...I just get hung up on before anyone answers. Their tech support is HORRIBLE!

Please help!

There is probably a conflict with the existing pre-installed burning software. "Drag-and-drop" software that's always running in the background is often the problem.

One solution is to try and disable the drag-and-drop software.

Another solution is to "burn" the DVD folders to your hard drive, and then use your other burning software to copy the folders to the actual DVD:

- When you get to the "burn" step, check the box that says Create DVD folders and un-check Create Disc. That should create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on your hard drive, instead of on a DVD.

Same Problem - Drives unable to be initialized

Post by therempels »

This is the closest that I have seem to someone having the same problem that I am having.
I have just installed the trial version of MF6 (I have 4 and 5 installed on my computer). After installing MF6 my computer cannot initialize either of my CD/DVD drives. So in the program, it says "Burner not Found". In Device manager, the drives are present, but have a yellow exclamation mark beside them. I have tried updating the drivers, but everything is up-to-date.
I rolled back my computer to before the MF6 install, and everything worked fine again. I tried re-installing MF6, and again my drives are not recognized. They do not show up in explorer.
I have a Philips DROM6212 drive in a Gateway 5040 computer. I have never encountered this problem before.
I am searching for solutions, and am exploring firmware updates.
Any other ideas?
Any one else have this problem?
I'll be getting rid of it again really soon if I can't come up with a solution.
Thanks,

Right click My Computer/Properties and go to Device manager. Double click "CDROM" then Remove the sub-entry for your CD-ROM and reboot.

Tried that. I uninstalled the drives, & rebooted. Winxp detected the drives & reinstalled them, but they still displayed with the yellow exclamation mark, and were not displayed in explorer.
Since my last post, and having been unable to find any more info on this problem, I tried merely uninstalling MF6. This did not rectify the drive problem. I had to do a system restore in order for the drives to again be initialized. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with some of the other things that were installed with MF6 (an updated directx and something else I was prompted for, but didn't pay enough attention to, maybe?)
Anyhow, I would like to find out what the problem is, and will reinstall and try again if anyone has any further ideas.
Thanks!
