What is the source video? I'm not sure if Straight To Disc works with all sources.
Have you been able to capture to the hard drive?
If you are doing real time capture, it's tricky enough to capture to the hard drive. I've never tried Straight To Disc, and I wouldn't recommend trying it unitil you have everything working to the hard drive without any conversion. Then, you can try real-time MPEG encoding to the hard drive (assuming you don't have an MPEG source). If that works with your system & set-up, then you can try Direct To Disc.
A stand-alone DVD recorder can do it, but it has dedicated hardware MPEG encoders & decoders, and it doesn't have the Windows operating system interrupting the process to do stuff in the background...

You don't have to supply everything but enough to define your capturing device.
