I'm using DVD moviefactory 5 plus, and Avermedia USB 300 to capture the video. The TV function of the USB 300 works fine, has audio with line in. When trying to capture video using moviefactory, there is no sound during capture or playback. I've checked that the line in is active, volume is set as high as it will go. Set for recording, not playback.
Windows XP home.
Any ideas?

I am getting the same problem but using a K-World USB device but also on XP Home. K-World supply their own viewer and capture tool along with the Ulead software which I would prefer to use. If I capture using the K-World software I get audio, I can import into Ulead and I get audio. If I capture using Ulead direct then I get video only.
Thanks for any help.

Right! You are almost always better-off using the capture software that's made especially for your hardware.
Did the capture device come with it's own capture software? I don't see that exact device on the Compatibility List.

With most USB capture devices, the audio should not be connected to line-in. The audio will come into the computer via the USB port along with the audio. And, the audio & video should be multiplexed together in one MPEG audio/video file. (i.e. If you are connecting a VCR, the analog audio from the VCR would usually connect to the USB capture device.)I've checked that the line in is active, volume is set as high as it will go.
