Overlay failed. Lower your screen resolution and color depth

Post by cjfrisz »

I have a Toshiba Satellite P100 laptop with an Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 256mb gpu, 2.4 Ghz Core Duo processor, and 1Gb RAM. It came loaded with InterVideo WinDVD, and every time that I try to use it, I get the error message listed in the subject line: "Overlay failed. Lower your screen resolution and color depth and try again."

I have followed the directions given with different resolutions and color depths, but to no avail. The only explanation I can come up with is that I have upgraded my gpu with drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. The drivers I am using are version 84.23. I would really rather not have to change the drivers, as I use my laptop for gaming more often than movies, and my games require the new drivers. I don't know if anyone can help me with this problem, but I would much appreciate it. Thanks, guys.

WinDvd needs to see the correct NVidia drivers from the manufacturer.
You should customize your pc if using special video drivers.
Maybe a Multi-boot drive with 2 copies of XP on it.
One for games & the other for standard.
