load from stream error video studio 10

Post by stannmaple »

Ok. I've used the seach function and found that others had this problem with previous versions, however, none of the suggestions seemed to work for me. Someone said to do a registry search for anything containing the words "video studio" and delete those files. Can anyone tell me how to do that? For those who don't know the problem I'm referring to, I get a message that says "load from stream error" any time I try to do anything with video clips in the library and it won't let me move forward. I pretty much figured out the problem came when I deleted a bunch of clips at once and it's still trying to find them or something, but it give me no option to relink or delete the file, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times with no luck and tried running a search for all files on my computer containing "video studio", deleted them all and reinstalled. Still get the message. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

In Windows, Start / Run type in regedit

WARNING - you can cause a lot of damage here (totally screw up Windows) if you remove something that should not be removed.
You can search on (Edit / FIND) all listings for videostudio and remove them.

I would back up the system first. regedit is not for the faint of heart.

I must be doing something wrong. It keeps saying "finished searching registry" without bringing up any results. Any idea why?

No results to find? Try stuidio and see what it finds, make sure you are at the top of the stack. Be sure Match Whole String Data is NOT checked.

Well, that could be a good thing. You are logged on as Admin correct?

I hate to give much more advice in messing with regedit as it can cause BIG problems.

You might try RegCleaner http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-downlo ... ner4.3.htm which will help find items that can be cleaned out. Maybe something will show up with that.

Stan,

This does not sound good. However is your OS allowing you to un-install and re-install each time without VS throwing errors? Do you have any other Ulead programs installed?

Read this Thread, Briancee posted a possible solution to this problem for another user.

For more possible solutions use the Search function and the keywords "load from stream error" (without quotes), and in the drop-down menus to the left, select VideoStudio in the top one (Forum), and Ulead Products in the bottom one (Category).

Yeah. I've got DVD workshop installed.
There are no errors other than the load from stream error each time

by the way vidoman,
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I found that thread and gave it a shot a while ago to no avail, but I did put in place a dedicated desktop for video studio. That kind of works. I can't put any video files in the library though, only in the timeline, so for big projects, it's not practical. I do appreciate your help on this one though. I will try uninstalling DVD workshop and see what happens.

If you've been hunting through your computer and deleting things with the word VideoStudio in then your best bet is to do a clean installation as shown here:

SOOOOO frusterating

I think my computer must be possessed or something. I un-installed all Ulead products as described. I search my computer for anything containing "Ulead" or "videostudio" or "video studio" I restarted my computer after each and every deletion or change, I did a complete clean installation as recommended and followed the steps precisely. I did a registry search and have totally wiped out anything remotely related to ANY ulead product and I STILL get this dang "load from stream error" message. Video studio is pretty much useless when it continues to do this over and over and over though the sessions. So, is my only option at this point to re-install XP or am i going to somehow have the same problem even then? The GOOD news, is that I've been forced to learn Adobe Premiere which has been on my computer for some time, I just haven't taken the time to learn it. The learning curve, however, is large and I really miss video studio for my home videos and small projects.
Thank you everybody who offered help. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong here.

One thing you may way to try. Set up a new user on XP giving that user admin status. Do not load anti virus or other background jobs.

Reboot and login as this new user and try an install there.

Worth a shot....

oh yeah

Post by stannmaple »

Oh yeah, I tried that too.... I just forgot to mention it. The funny thing is I get no "load from stream error" on THAT account, but it won't let me put any videos in the library- only in the timeline, which makes editing next to impossible and when I run video studio in the original account... guess what? I get that "load from stream error" again...
Just so you all know, I really do appreciate the suggestions. Any more are more than welcome. Thanks so much for sticking with this and offering advice to help me out here.

Sounds rather like an XP Permissions issue, are you using Home Edition or Pro?
