Hi all, I'm trying to get some mini-DV homemovies onto DVD. My video camera is a Canon ZR85. Ulead 5 doesn't recongnize it for capture. ("Failed to Initialize Capture" and "No Capture Driver available in the system" were the messages show when trying to perform the Straight to Disk option).
I can get the video to the harddrive using Windows MovieMaker. If I import to moviefactory and try to burn it, it takes 16 hours.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm using:
Athlon 2500+
XP with SP2
1 GB RAM
110 open HDD space
Radeon 9200SE (I think)
Canon ZR85

Let's start with the connection. How did you connect the cam to the PC? USB cable that came with the cam?
If yes, that's a great way to get your still images, if you have taken any, from the SD card to the PC. For video, you should use the firewire port, the cable is never included with any of the cameras but can be bought at computer stores or the place where you bought your camera. Of course, your PC needs to have a matching firewire port also. These are usually referred to as IEEE1394 ports and are pretty much a standard feature of newer computers. If yours doesn't have one, add on PCI firewire cards come very cheap these days and are a breeze to put in.

I've got a firewire connection. It works fantastic. The problem is after that. Importing the movie takes no time. Let's say I edit the movie to put in chapters every 10 mintues, again that takes no time. After I get that done I choose to burn to DVD. 1 hour later and I have 8% completed. That's my problem.
Something to do with conversion, I suppose?
