Do you mean MovieFactory 6 is not installed OR did you buy an upgrade and it is looking for the relevant previous version?

I purchased version 6 upgrade online. I download the software from the links that I was emailed. When I try to install, it says I don't have Moviefactory 6.0 installed. I'm upgrade from version 3.0 and it is installed.

Possibly you have a corrupted download. Try downloading it again before the link expires. When you run the installation program you may see a repair option, try that first.

fatal error during install of moviefactory 6 plus

Post by roydant »

I get a fatal error in the install process.

This happens either during or just after AVControlSDK is in the process.

I have downloaded no difference.

I have removed this out of my system every time and still failure to get this installed.

Ideas anyone? I had used version 3 for a couple of years......

Things that make you go humm

Still cannot instal - fatal error after AVControlSDK

Post by ruggy1 »

Sorry for posting a separate post - just found this one, so will post again here. I get a fatal error in the install process, same as ROYDANK

This happens either during or just after AVControlSDK is in the process.

Tried several cleanups as suggested by Steve - still cannot instal MF6+

The only thing that is different about my setup to when I installe the last version of MF5 is that I now have Windows Media Player 11 and the new MS Live Messenger.

Any ideas. Thanks

What is it about AVControlsDK

Post by ruggy1 »

I have tried six times now to install MF6+ - with the same failure each time it gets to AVControlsDK. I have a clean computer - no other occurrence of Ulead, all files cleaned up, temp and otherwise, registry OK, lots of space, XP Pro with all mods, P4 3.0. What is AVControlsDK and why is it giving me such a headache? Thanks.

More on the subject

Post by ruggy1 »

I have concluded that MF6+ will not instal on a clean machine that has no other ULEAD/Intervideo products on it, but will in fact install on my work machine, which has all Ulead products on it. Other than this explanation, the only other one I could come up with is that it would not install with Windows Media Player v11, but did on the system with Windows Media Player v10.

I already have VS10 and do not do HD, so from what I have seen MF6+ has few benefits for me over MF5+.

Dont feel bad I am also having problems with MF6 and unable to get no where so far, guess that I threw my money out the window, better yet made a Tax donation to Ulead, that should also make me qualify for a foreign tax credit perhaps, in the USA  .

Thanks Steve

I am a qualified PC expert and as I said in my previous email, the system I installed MF6+ on was totally clean - just been reformatted , new OS plus patches etc. The fact that it installed OK on my old workhorse with every Ulead product installed indicates to me that there may be a problem installing this trial on clean systems - it must be relying on some already existing Ulead/Intervideo product component. Anyway this is not important for me as eventually I did get it to work OK. Thanks Steve.

I'm not disputing your abilities. You may be interested in what happened to me last year:
I've done everything you suggested but I still can't get this to work!

At the time it was a real hair pulling exercise.

I had problems when I bought and downloaded the MF5+ upgrade. In that instance my PC kept asking me for the next folder when all of them had been unzipped and installed after a totally perfect download from the approved website. What I did was email the nice people at Ulead UK, and they emailed me back with a complete and uncorrupted version.
I guess all these troubles are the downside of getting reduced price upgrades.

DVD Moviefactory 6 dowload

Post by PieterAL »

Hello,

New to this forum because I would like to try the DVD MovieFactory, and the installation terminated with the fatal error mentioned above.
Did manual uninstall - because the program was not installed completely, no icons or entry in list with installed programs - several times, all without any success. Tried both US and UK versions, which are different in size.
I installed MediaStudio Pro (8 try version) without problem and it works well. But I want to burn my movie (+2 hours) to DVD: alas, I can't.

I tried also chkdsk /r but there were no errors - I bought a quality HDD - as expected.

DivX player component is installed completely, the MovieFactory program also but it hangs on the AVControlSDK
From the logbooks:
LightScribe 1.4.124.1 -- Configuration completed successfully
Microsoft XML Parser -- Configuration completed successfully
InterVideo DeviceService -- Configuration completed successfully
Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 -- Configuration completed successfully

Maybe it has something to do with SmartSound? I have also Pinnacle Studio 9.3, which also has SmartSound, and it doesn't work well in there.

Found in c:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{BB8AE808-F003-4C7F-B56B-8C80EEAFFE23}\
the setup program of AVControlSDK. When I run that, its says that it is already installed. When I choose to reinstall, it asks me for C:\DOCUME~1\Pieter\LOCALS~1\Temp\pft48~tmp where it can find setup.ini, while it is with the setup.exe.

I will try to run the program - no icons so have to guess what program to run....
DMFLauncher.exe - it gives me a choice to create a new project, but it stops with the message 'DVD MovieFactory 2.0 not found or access denied'
and then 'The application associated with Launcher is corrupted. Please reinstall to solve this problem.'
So, because I don't have MovieFactory 2.0 - never had also - I will deinstall version 6.0 and search me another program.... Adobe?
