EDIT: Disregard the below post; I found the proper settings, although it did take 45 minutes to make a 2-minute WMV HD clip at the highest possible settings (and 2-pass encoding).
I've been using MSP for several years (currently have MSP 8 w/SP1), but recently got my first HD camcorder (Sony HC-7) and I have a question concerning WMV HD output. I have NO problem capturing and editing the HD video from the camera or even outputting it to MPEG-2 (HD).
I have searched the forum and read the help files on outputting to WMV HD and it seems fairly straight forward, but I think I might be missing some codecs. Here is my procedure/results:
1. Create video file
2. Save as type: Windows Media Video (*.wmv, *.asf)
3. Click on "Template" and choose the one I want "HD 1080/25p Stereo".
4. The "Save Options" then shows: Windows Media Video, 24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 16:9, 20 fps, Frame-based, 22.050 KHz, 16 bits, Stereo, Windows Media Video 8 for Color Pocket PCs (225 Kbps)
5. I have two issues with this: (1) the 20 fps and (2) the "...for Color Pocket PCs" which is a very small frame size
6. I then select "Options", "Profile" and try all the different profiles listed, but the largest frame size available is 320 x 240 (definitely not full HD size)
7. I then clicked the "Customize" button but the only options I get is to select from the same list of profiles that I already saw.
So, my main question is, "Am I missing something?" Is it possible to output WMV HD at full HD resolution (1920 x 1080)?
Thank you.
WMV HD Problem
You should download and install the Media 9 encoder, it should allow you to make HD content in WMV.
