Audio Problems on VideoStudio 10

Post by Smallville »

Hi, I recently purchased VS10, the first editing software I've ever purchased. I have a Dell PC that operates on Windows XP Media Center Edition. I have a digital transmission receiver attached to my PC so I can capture TV programmes on my hard drive. I bought the software so I could edit out the adverts and burn them to DVD to keep. A small problem I'm currently having is after I'm ready to burn the DVD in VideoStudio Editor, once I've checked it though on the preview screen and everything is to my satisfaction. I click on 'Share' then 'Create Disc'. The new window opens with a new preview screen, when I check my video on that preview screen. I've noticed half way through my video footage the sound runs out of sync with the video footage. How can I prevent this or correct it. I spent about an hour and a half burning the DVD today only to find this problem when I played the DVD for the first time. Please can you help me :?: Also I've found my finally burnt DVD not to have very smooth play back some times when the camera is paning across the screen, and when there is a lot of movement on screen. Can you help advise me with this as well :?: Thank you.

Welcome to the Forums Smallville...:)

First we are going to need some more information. Please view This Thread, it provides a guideline to the specific information needed to help you.

I suspect you are capturing to an MPEG format. MPEG is tricky to edit, and one problem that surfaces is audio/video sync. Jerky video is indicative of using the wrong field order. Most analog video is captured UFF (Upper Field First) and DV (digital video) is LFF (Lower Field First).

Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

A Recommended Workflow has been developed to help guide you through the mine-field of video editing, as it pertains to Ulead's VideoStudio Programs. They can be viewed here:

Thanks Vidoman, I've updated my profile with all my system information now.

I have a AverMedia Digital (DVB-T) USB 2.0 TV Tuner (MCE compatable), that I use to receive the signal and yes I do believe I've been capturing the feed from VideoStudio 10 as an MPEG format.

If you could offer me more advise I'd appreciate it, thank you.
