Hi there!
I am having a strange capturing problem with VideoStudio 10. I am capturing DV tapes from Canon MV200i, the container is an AVI file and the format type is DV type-1 with split by scene option. The PC is a modern one with 2GB memory and SATA HDs with DMA enabled. Most of the DV tapes the capturing and editing goes smoothly without trouble.
But some older tapes the capturing phase seems to be an issue, the video/audio is not smooth, I first suspected frames are dropping, but VideoStudio is not indicating this is not the case. The DV tapes itself seem to be ok when I play them from camera or TV. I tested with both XP SP2 and Vista and the result is the same. Do any of you here in the forum have experience in similar cases?
Capturing problems with some dv tapes?

When I converted my collection of VHS tapes to DVD and also those of friends and family - this was several hundred VHS tapes, using exactly the same equipment and exactly the same settings, the majority of the tapes transferred without a problem.
Unfortunately there were several tapes - mainly older ones - that had lots of problems. some of the tapes I even gave up with and didn't bother.
The problem is the tapes themselves, even though they appear to play correctly with the tape player - in your case your camcorder.
You can try fast forwarding and rewinding a few times in case they are badly wound, you can also try a tape head cleaner. Some may show improvement but not all.
