Error: An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past...

...its end

Hi all,
Am new here. Using Ulead Videostudio 9 and have done for a while now and all has been fine. I am now constantly getting the message above. I found an earlier post way back in November 2006 and have replied there, but it was so long ago I figure no-one's going to see it to help me, so sorry for the duplication... :(

I can't get past this error message. I insert my video file as I want to add text and titling. I can get it into the timeline but when I click next to get to the next level of effects, the program freezes, I get the above error message and Ulead just freezes. I have to use the Task Manager to close it and basically it's pretty much unusable. I am MOST disappointed.

I have followed the very detailed instructions that was given about uninstallating and reinstalling. Still no joy. Can anyone else offer any more help before I bin it?!!! :x

>>>I insert my video file as I want to add text and titling.
1st - Under Preferences (F6) make sure "Show message when inserting first video clip into the timeline" is checked ON. Answer "YES" when inserting the video file into the timeline.
After the file is on the timeline then:
Right Click on the media file and select "Properties". Write down the properites of the source video file and post them back to this thread.

You may be working with a non-editable file format (highly compressed) or the file may be corrupted. Don't know, there are 1001 different types of video files you can put on the timeline, some work, some don't.

Do you get this error with any clip you insert and try to edit, or just this one particular clip?

Hi there,

I haven't yet tried doing what etech6355 suggested, I'll give that a go. But I have tried lots of different video files in different formats (avi, mpeg, wmv) and lots of different sizes. All do the same thing and get the same message so it can't be the video files themselves but has to be Ulead I guess... :(

Thanx everyone for your help so far...
