Hi -
I was applying video filters (auto levels and noise) to a single clip, and after crunching awhile it finished but wouldn't play the preview. Instead, VS10+ popped up this error message:
"Multiple File Playback error. Cannot play. Make sure Direct Show and your sound card are installed correctly."
I have had no trouble playing back a wide range of projects, and I can still play back the underlying clip I was experimenting with (after I selected "clip" instead of "project" so I was no longer attempting to look at the rendered preview.)
Any thoughts as to what causes this error and how I can cure it? These video filters are powerful and I want to be able to user them.
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
I've also had that error pop up on occasion when rendering a preview using the High-Quality Playback setting. I don't have any idea what causes it. I've done a google search on the error, and the only entries apply to older versions of MSP.
One article on the Creative Cow Forums suggest a problem with the Matrox MPEG codec. Adding some lines to an ini file was recommended by Ulead tech support. However did not seem to produce a cure.
