WinDVD fails to save audio settings

Could someone help me out with this problem? I have a 5.1 speakers system and try to set audio in WinDVD to 6 channels. It lets me do this, but always switches itself back to 8 channels the next time it plays. The same problem applies to Audio Technology.

I have a Creative Augidy soundcard. It is set to 5.1 system.
