Yes you can by using the overlay track - but it does require a fair amount of pre-planing to get the two halfs of the screen looking correct - remember you will be viewing just that - half a screen for each picture - so you need to make sure that in one video all the action is on the right and in the other it is on the left - you cannot see the whole of each video picture at the same time. it is a little fiddly but quite possible.
Maybe easier alternatives are to use picture-in-picture and have a second video playing in a window over the first - or even with a little more work have two windows playing the two videos over some sort of background of your choice.
