During install ACCESS IS DENIED: isusweb.dll

During install ACCESS IS DENIED: isusweb.dll
During install I get a "The following files did not self-register or unregister:
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Programs\isusweb.dll
ACCESS IS DENIED
This is a bizarre message because nothing from the VS10 install package is in this folder because everything is on my Desktop.
How do I get past this?
Equally bizarre -- not one bit of install information came with my purchase of VS10 and MF6. Not even a read me!
How do you get your money back when install fails?

isusweb.dll is part of InstallShield
"Windows searches your "PATH" environment variable to locate shared files (called Dynamic Link Libraries or DLLs) associated with a particular application or executable. If there is an older copy of a shared library anywhere in the PATH, then Windows loads this library into memory first.
When an older library is loaded, then any application that relies on the latest (newer) version to be loaded will most likely experience problems."

So I should remove any copy of isusweb.dll that I find in Windows -- and then repeat the install?
It could also be that you do not have full access to the folder containing that file. Check the folder attributes and remove the read only in case it is active on that folder. I asume you are trying to install with administrator rights, correct?
I am ADMIN and I canceled the Read-only. Will try tonight. Thank you.

I tried again after I removed the restriction and it still failed.
Which is odd because isusweb.dll is in the folder. Even if it is old, it should be replaced during the new install -- unless in some way it can't be replaced.
And, yes it is Read Only. Strange because I was sure I asked for the restriction to be removed from the contents of the folder.
Must get dinner, I'll try again later. Thank you.

No luck at all.
The Downloaded Program Files folder was not Read-only. There were 4 files in it that despite requesting to see everything -- I could not see. Renamed folder.
Made new folder. Amazingly after a bit, 4 files appeared in it. And one was isusweb.dll.
How does that happen?
Why couldn't I see the files?
Tried install and it failed.
Renamed isusweb.dll to isusweb.bak
Tried install and it failed.
A new isusweb.dll was now in the folder so the installer was able to put a new version in.
Renamed the other three files and deleted isusweb.dll.
Tried install and it failed.
All four files had were present so they were placed there by the installer.
So the ACCESS DENIED message seems bogus. The folder is fully accessable and the Installer is loading what it needs. If it can place files in the folder, why can it not access them
What about the other message: FILE DID NOT SELF REGISTER. I've no idea what this means, but maybe the problem is in the Registry.

I suspect that the file is loaded and maybe running resident in memory. Check under taskmanager.
For your information I don't even have that file on my entire drive. I don't use automatic updates. That DLL seems to have something to do with auto-updates and installations.
Maybe this link will help:
http://support.installshield.com/kb/vie ... id=Q111057
If not search under Google, there's a ton of hits.

You can try contacting Customer Service:How do you get your money back when install fails?
I doubt you can actually get a refund on software, but maybe they can help. (Depending on where you live, the law may require them to give you a refund... I dunno...)Contact our Customer Service Department for general questions relating to orders from retail and online stores, Ulead Member or product registration and related issues.
Technical support will not respond until after the product is registered... which you can't do 'till the product is installed...
Did you install a trial version? The trial version leaves remnants behind (so you can't keep re-installing it every 30 days), and I'm wondering if it's something from the trial version's anti-piracy.

Did all of these:
RegClean
Different account
Uninstall Program Update
Turned-off Virus checker
Clean deinstall of VS10
No luck.
It may not be VS10 itself, but the VS download always installs Program Update and isusweb.dll.
No matter how many times I uninstall Program Update, reinstalling VS10+ always brings it back.
And, if I run I run Program Update from Control Panel it fatally hangs -- just like VS10+ when I start it.

It sounds that the software updater is corrupt, i would try to uninstall lthe updater then either reinstall it or install Video studio then reinstall the updater

I did uninstall it (Program Update) using the uninstall app I downloaded. The VS download seems to re-install it at some point in the VS install as all the update software is back -- even though the VS install fails.
The VS download brings the installshield stuff with it. And, its the installshield stuff that's not working. In fact, if I run the installshield Control Panel it hangs. Is there a place to get an independent load of installshield?
