day light savings

Post by Ilene »

Does anyone know whether Video Studio 9 and 10 will adjust for the new Day light savings dates...this weekend 3/10 instead of 3/31? I seem to remember this was a problem a few years back with VS8 and they had to create a patch so that the video files weren't all messed up. I heard on the news that they are anticipated a lot of computer software glitches as a result of the change.

Hopefully we're covered for this...but I just wanted to raise it as a possible issue.

thanks.

Just start working on your project an hour earlier and you should be fine (or would that be an hour later :? )

There was certainly no problem in Australia with either VS9 or 10 at the changeover times to daylight saving and the reverse over the past couple of years...

day light savings

Post by Ilene »

i have had no problems the last couple years either - however......computers/software I believe have been programed with the day light savings dates scheduled for years to come - however this year there is a new policy in effect - and the date has been changed to occur three weeks earlier than usual.

"In August 2005, the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act, which changes the start and end of DST as observed in the United States. Some additional countries/regions are following the U.S. change. As a result, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007 ¡X resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. These dates are referred to in this article as the extended DST period."

Ken - perhaps in australia this is not the case....

but I do remember downloading at patch in VS8 that corrected issues with video files that did not re-link when we changed the clocks - and I'm guessing that ULead has not accounted for the change thats coming this weekend....

Please see this link http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=2872375
as the potential problem was reported on the news this week.

perhaps vs10 will be ok, but what about VS9 files???

daylight savings

I spoke with ULead today and they assured me that there would not be a problem - they are leaving it up to Microsoft Windows Time Management software to self correct. There is info on the Microsoft website for downloads to update your windows settings - however I believe that if you accept "automatic updates" from Microsoft that you will be covered.

If anyone see that they have a problem on Sunday 3/11 and their computer clock is incorrect - you should go to the Microsoft website.
