I installed the trial version of Ulead VideoStudio yesterday.

Today, I accidentally clicked the activate button. I clicked back. Now it won't run. Uninstall/reinstall didn't help.

Any hope?

Did you actually try to contact them? I know they won't support non-registered products in regard to technical issues, but I would think this is a different matter.

I seem to be in the same catch22. I normally use vs7 which I love, but, I decided it was time to upgrade. I thought I would try out the trial version of vs10. Just as a test, I did a short 20 min slideshow with sound and transitions. It worked fine. I did another, slightly longer video and the program locked up when I went to share. I couldn't even Ctrl/Alt Del and shut down the program. I had to hit the power button to get out of it. When it re-booted, vs10 won't start and it gives me the same security error that you're getting. Ulead doesn't do support for trial versions and they don't seem to want to support my old vs7 either, even though it's a registered version. Now I'm scared to download the upgrade for fear that the trial version has done something in my registry that will prevent the upgrade from working correctly. Good luck.... If you get anywhere with Ulead support I would appreciate it if you would let me know how you did it. By the way, my version 7 still works fine.

If you get the upgrade it will be fine.
The error message indicates that the hidden file used to monitor the 30 day free trial has become corrupted and so unless you went to the extremes of reformatting your hard drive and re-installing your operating system, then unfortunately your out of luck.

Ulead would not reveal the whereabouts of the hidden file because that would open the door to anyone who wanted to simply extend their 'free trial' ad infinitum. Whilst you may be a good and honest citizen, unfortunately we are in a world full of unscrupulous unsavoury characters who spoil things for the rest of us.
