Subtitles in DVD Movie Factory

Post by Robertl »

Hello
I am using DVD MovieFactory 6 Pro. I would like to add subtitles, that can be turned on and off via the DVD remote control. Does anyone know how to create srt files? On the Edit Subtitle screen, there is an option to import these files, but the instructions give no indication of how to create and/or find them. I have created subtitled movies in TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 and they work as expected. When the movies are imported into MovieFactory, however, the subtitles disappear. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. Various searches through Google have turned up relatively little or overly complex solutions. Most sincerely, Robert.

I think, at this time you need a software like subtitle workshop for creating subtitles. http://www.urusoft.net/products.php?cat=sw&lang=1
Regards Georg
have a look: www.VIDEO-Intern.com and www.stammtisch.video-intern.com (both german language)

I've never created subtitles, but most DVD authoring programs seem to need a text file, and they want to generate their own subtitle stream. If you want to make any changes, you generally have to make changes to the text file and re-generate the subtitle stream.

Importing existing subtitles, or converting closed captions to subtitles always seems to be a problem. :?

So, you are probably better-off using one program or the other for a given project, rather than trying to combine TMPGEnc DVD Author and Movie Factory. (At least use one package for the actual authoring... i.e. You should be OK if you use one program to edit, another to encode the MPEG, a 3rd program to author & multiplex, and a 4th program for burning.)

There are probably 3rd-party tools to do the trick, but yes they might be "overly complex".

Use the following link then you should be able to find some subtitle editor to create the srt file.

http://www.google.com/search?q=subtitle+srt+editor

I have used VisualSubSync before and it's not bad.

I always believe that "Google is your friend".

Hope this helps.
