Problem viewing images previously rotated in other app

Post by kodachr0me »

Hi. First time poster...long time PI user. Recently I was asked to help out a photographer friend at a wedding shoot. Will be doing quick edits and then printing 5x7 portraits on the spot. He off course uses Photoshop. As we were going over the procedure that we would be using, he gave me some sample photos to work with. All were vertical 5x7s, yet on my computer (both my laptop and desktop) PEX8 and PI11 displayed them in a horizontal fashion. Some had been rotated using ACDC and some were straight out of his Nikon d200, shot in a vertical orientation. Really don't know what to make of this as any vertical photos that come out of my Oly E500 appear corrrectly. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

It's a setting of the camera. The shots are rotated inside the camera and already lose one generation of quality that way. Just compare the file size with a normal aspec ratio image. It was one of the first things I set up on both my Canon still cameras, never to rotate in the cam. I use PhotoExplorer 8.6, comes with PI 11 and PI 12. The only low cost app I know which can rotate an image without losing resolution.
