Choppy Audio

When playing mpeg4 movies with MovieFactory the audio is quite choppy. The video plays fine. Using Quicktime both the video and audio play smoothly, the problem is only with MovieFactory. I am using MovieFactory 4. Can anyone help?

Since when is MF meant to be a media player?

Thanks for your reply it was very helpful... I'm not using MF as a media player, just stating the problem as simply as possible. (Did you know that MF played media files? It is a very helpful feature when trying to edit movies.)
