Same problem here with my Plextor ConvertX M402U. I'm thinking that Ulead has not included the necessary drivers for this type of capture device. Maybe a Ulead tech person will see this reply and notice that there is an audience that would like to see support for this Plextor product.

I think Ulead cannot do anything unless Plextor provides proper drivers for your capture device.

Ulead doesn't provide any capture device drivers (with the exception of the MICROMV driver), it relies on standard interfaces like DirectShow to interface with capture hardware. Provided that the device or devices you own implement support for these standards through their own drivers, they should work.

What happens when you try to capture using other programs, such as Microsoft Movie Maker?

When I use MS Movie Maker the program actually lists the Plextor as a capture device. But when I finally get to the point of capturing it fails with some error message like failed to start the device.
Like you all have said before, we Plextor users are probably stuck using WinDVD creator until Plextor can coordinator this driver issue with other video editing vendors like Ulead.

I had similar problems with the Plextor 100, that being, MS Explorer would freeze each time I tried to capture. I had to download SP2 for XP along with with every MS update possible to make the 100 work. Then, I lost the audio, and the device would not record, but would provide a good TV picture over the Intervideo software. Plextor is going to replace the 100 box. The problem seems to be the driver mismatch between Plextor, Ulead, and Microsoft. My device manager shows the Plextor drivers working OK, with no conflicts.
My solution; was to use a X-pert USB capture device I had, which records any video source with audio OK. The X-pert drivers are not MS signed, but they work OK on XP.
