Controlling photo/transition length
Greetings, I downloaded demo for version 10. The program has some great features (lots of controls--love it) but have hunted for some sort of global control for slide and transition length. I found global controls in preferences but those seem to only be changeable BEFORE you start a project. Is there a way to change these settings DURING your project? Is there a way to assign, for example, one specific transition to an entire slide show project? ...much easier than having to individually. Is there a way to change transition/photo length during a project without having to change each one individually? I LOVE all the control over brightness during a video segment. I LOVE the control you have over zoom and pan on a photo. Anyway, not sure if I want to buy the program or not. Thanks, in advance, for any help with these issues.

I think you have already found the "global controls" for VS10, or for that matter any version of VS. These can be set in the Preferences. However they must be set prior to inserting any images or clips. The only means to change an image duration during a project is to highlight all the images, then go to Clip>Change Image/Color Duration. With transitions you have to do this one at a time...

Hi
You could of course drag the images to the library.(create a new library page for the images)
Delete the images from the timeline.
Change the default/global transition time. (File-Preferences-Edit Tab)
Drag the images back to the timeline from the library.
Images should retain the pan & zoom etc.
Transitions auto inserted.
(File-Preferences-Use Default Transition Effect)
New transition length, it is a pity you cannot change the duration in the timeline.

Global controls
Hi Trevor....Thanks for the idea. It's too bad this program doesn't include those controls. Even some lower-end programs include them...they seem, to me, to be kind of a basic thing. Thanks again.

Global controls
Thanks Videoman for confirming that the controls aren't there for mid-project changes. It's kinda frustrating. Do they have a "suggestion box" somewhere on this site? It's something I think we should all suggest.

RE:Controls transition length
Thanks for all the responses. I have Magix Movie Pro 11. It's a pretty good product but a little quirky at times. It doesn't have video brightness controls and the pan/zoom controls as good as VS10. Magix also dangles the versions in front of you with a few minor upgrades but, usually, not enough to warrant purchasing the newest version. I guess all these companies are the same.....too bad. Perhaps I'll check out the latest version of MSP. Maybe I'll check out some of the newest versions of other programs....haven't done that for awhile. Thanks again, everyone.

Controlling photo/transition length
Hi...Well after downloading a few new versions of programs and comparing them against my needs I've decided to stick with Magix Movie Edit Pro 11. Like I had said...it can be a little buggy but it does have tons of features so that once you learn to work around the quirks it can be a pretty good program. For any Ulead development people who might see this post... if the program had better global controls I would have purchased it...
Thanks again, everyone.
