Unable to play an burnd dvd on a player
Some DVD players can't play "burned" DVDs at all. Some have trouble with some formats. If you don't have the owner's manual, your best odds are with DVD-R. If that doesn't work, try DVD+R. (My player can play everything I've tried, but my sister's player can't play burned dual-layer DVDs.)
The current rumor is that the new very-cheap players can generally play anything. But, I'll bet most new players can play anything... not just the cheap ones...
And, there are a couple of other tricks you can try:
Burn at a slow speed, 4X or less. (That should create cleaner "pits" on the DVD.)
Keep your bitrate below 7000kbps. (Some players have trouble with high-bitrate burned-DVDs. Again, it probably has something to do with handling imperfect pits at high bitrates.)

Many thanks for your replys!
I tried it on a player that didnt have any problems in the past with playing dvds.
I burnd a dvd with vob files and file system, not a singe mpeg file. On my vista Laptop everything is ok, the DVD-Menu is appearing and the DVD ist ready to play, but on the DVD-Player nothing is detected. It reported always No Disk...
Have you got other hints?
Thanks

I think the DVD media you use might not be compatible with your player.
See DVD burning problems for more information.
You could also check DVD Burner Compatibility List and DVD Player Compatibility List to know what media can be used with your burner and player.
Hope this helps.
