New Panasonic HighDef Consumer Camcorder

I'm surprised that Panasonics new HighDef Consumer camcorder is recording in the AVCHD format and not the mpeg2 format so people can work and handle the files easier.
It's much easier to work with the HD-Mpeg2 compared to the AVCHD format.

I really like panasonic products, would love to see them come out with a HighDef consumer unit that records in HD-Mpeg2 to an internal removable harddisk, not the AVCHD format.

So, if someone's looking into a HighDef Camcorder be careful with this new format because as far as I know it's not possible to work with the files.
Playback only on the appropriate hardware.
