I backup my videos using external memory and burn several copies of
each video onto dvds. I keep the dvds on a spindle (using the
empty storage containers of blank dvds purchased). Each spindle has between 50-100 dvds stored. A friend mentioned that he stored the
dvds the same way in the past, but stopped after noticing with time that
his dvds when played would skip. This happened to several of
his dvds he kept in the spindle. He advised me not to keep
the dvds in the spindle. Is there a proper way to store dvds?
Would keeping them in a verticle postion or horizontal position be of
any difference? So is storing the dvds in the spindle an improper way?
Proper storage of dvds

Supposedly these dvd's have an extra hard coating on them that resists scratches etc.

No, but after doing some research and reading http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm as suggested in this forum, I did buy a stack of TDK ScratchProof 4.7GB 8X DVD-R. These were highly rated for archival. Bought mine from Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6817131113etech6355 wrote:Anyone ever tried these dvd's yet from Verbatim?

Not cheap but then not for everyday backup but for long term storage.
