I created a .iso image with VS10+ and then tried using Nero to burn this image to disc. The image size is 700mb. Using a DVD-R Nero gives an error message saying 'can't write your compilation to this type of disc'. It seems to want a CD-RW disc. When I insert a 650mb one, it says it won't fit install an 800mb disc.
So is the problem with Nero refusing to write a <800mb image to a DVD-R, or does VS somehow create a file for only the CD-RW format (if the movie would fit on one)?
I did try burning straight to DVD from VS (on a DVD-R) and it worked. However there didn't appear to be any control over the write speed (it used 6.4X).
VS10+ can't seem to burn disk from saved image

What were your project settings in VS10? It seems that you have created SVCD/VCD file. These types of files can only be burned to CD-R disks.
DVD standard has a minimum of 1 GB file size for compatibility reasons also. In MSP there is an option to click where a minimum of 1 GB will be burned for exactly this reason.
