Just bought VS10Plus

Post by Zeb »

Just waiting for the payment to be finalised (never experienced this before when purchasing a product online) so what do I do now?

Do I get sent a registration code I enter allowing me to install the trial version or do I also get sent a link allowing me to download an alternative version?

This wasn't explained (if it was, not clearly enough)

Thanks.

Oh, thought I'd better add a small hello :)

I'm from the UK and before I built this machine, I trialled various video editing software on my previous machine and VS10 was an easy winner.

All I'm planning to do (so far) is be able to import recordings from the DVD recorder (LG DR175) we boughty for the "living quarters" - basically programmes from TV. Just want to edit out the adverts and be able to keep the edited versions.

VS10 was an easy winner because my mum uses Final Cut Pro on her iMac (OS X 10.3) for editing home movies of my nephews and nieces so I've got a great source of help already this end. Hopefully I'll be able to put back into the forums what I take out.

You should get a download link for the full version. We do not recommend to "activate" the TBYB version. It's caused too much grief to many a user. You are much better off downloading the full version and all the extra content.

Zeb..I would recommend ordering the ulead video studio CD. The CD gives you the option of repairing the editing program, should you have glitches or if the computer erases or corrups your editing files.

I don't think my computer stays stable long enough to be honest. I've got so many applications installed for various things that after a while (about 6 months I wipe everything anyway - my system is ghosted to make life easier.

I've got loads of apps installed for web design, Photoshop for graphics work, apps for audio editing etc. so after a while things run sluggish although I'll be seeing how long until my next system wipe with this new PC.

@heinz: I've just woke up and checked my emails to find I've received twqo download links - one for 133MB and the full (!?) version which is 275MB. What's the difference? Why two downloads? Which do I install?

It's OK now, went to install the large download and it said I need to install VS10 first so I stopped, installed the smaller file and left the large file out of it.

What exactly does the large installer contain?

If it's just "extra content" then I'll leave it as all I'm using it for is editing my recordings from Sky to remove the adverts and maybe encoding to DivX for the odd movie from Sky. as our DVD recorder is DivX certified.

One would be the program, the other the extras. Download them both and back tem up immediately to CD, together with all the pertinent data like sales receipts, licences keys etc. Makes it a lot easier to install again if you have to.

I second Heinz-oz's advice. Better safe than sorry.
