I can't see why not. being an SE version indicates to me that you received it for free with some hardware. Why don't you just try it?

If you are intending to buy it from someone, bear in mind that SE versions usually are bundled with hardware and, as such, are free to the purchaser of such hardware and may have previously been registered. They do qualify for an upgrade to the current full version if they are not too old and you are the registered owner. XL is getting on a bit, we are on version 12 right now and should soon be looking at version 13. Version XL was pre PI 10

Thanks Heinz Oz,
I am just looking to get a cheap bit of software to convert some graphics.
I can pick up XL for a couple of quid, so it would be a cheap option for conversion.

If that is all you want to do, try IrfanView, it's even cheaper because it's free. You can get it here http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

Note that IrfanView does not support the .ufo format...

Ulead's GIF Animator 5 will also open .ufo files, and will let you save them as .psd, .gif, .png or .jpg. (The latter two if you select to "Save As Image Frames.)

Where would he get ufo files from if he doesn't have PI?

AFAIK, VS9 does not create *.ufo files. There are some included with the program, which are used for templates.

Ok, yes, that makes sense. Templates would be ufo format.

The OP asked for a cheap program to edit images. If it involves ufo files, only PI will do.
