Quarto screen

Post by stelch »

Hi
Can you make with VideoStudio 10plus a quarto screen. In other words to split the screen into 4 parts (2 on top and 2 at the bottom)?

By Quarto Screen are you meaning Picture in Picture effect? You can "split" the screen in that fashion, using 4 tracks. Just resize the video/images in each track so they only occupy ¼ of the screen.

I though with VideoStudio 10 you only have 2 video tracks.

and in the case you have VS10 standard, you could make the two top quarters in a VSP, save it, create another VSP where you insert the two lower ones, save it then create a 3rd VSP and import the two first VSPs as base and overlay clips. Yes it's tedious but it works.
This my understanding of it.

I do have VideoStudio10 plus but in the time line I can only see the main video truck and only one overlay one. Where are the other4?

Above your timeline are a series of icons. First of all, you must be in Timeline view (click the second icon from the left). Now, the second icon from the right is the Overlay Track Manager. Click that and a box opens where you can check off which track(s) you want to include/exclude from the timeline. 8)

Here is an example I worked up last night as I was screwing around with this feature, titles and the "fancy" music that comes with 10+.

Thanks everybody. I never new that, but I guess I should have read the manual. This program really rocks. I have downloaded Sony Vegas Movie Studio 7 to give it a try but I really think its too complicated and not easy as VideoStudio 10. I cant's understand why guys praise it so much.

Hi Dan

How did you resize the first track. I could only resize the overlay tracks.

in the Attributes tab, click distort clip then drag the handles.
Use the Show Grid lines function to help align clips.
This my understanding of it.

You don't have to put a clip in the main track. You can have all your clips in the overlay track(s).

Black Lab has it right. I used black Color on the main track and then four overlay tracks for the video.

You don't even need to put a color clip in the main track. Whatever you have your background color preference set to (File>General Tab>Background Color) is what the color will be in the main track.
