I've bought, downloaded and installed MF6plus on Vista 64bit Ultimate and I have to say that I am not overly impressed. This is mainly because the upgrade price is £35 in the UK and although I don't mind spending a reasonable amount of money on software, I cannot see where there is a significant improvement over MF5plus (which I also have).
In my view the upgrade price should be considerably less for MF5plus users or even users who use MF and VS10.
I would have waited a while until an offer came along but I needed the new version because it is the only one compatible with Vista and indeed it seems to work well enough.
However, it seems most 'improved' features have been added to the editing side of the software and not the DVD creation element. Well for me the only part I use is the DVD creation and do my video editing in VS10 and how many other people do the same. I would therefore not recommend buying this 'upgrade' unless either you have Vista or MF is your only editing/DVD creator software. £35 is a lot to pay for Vista compatibility.
PS - I upgrade almost every year to the latest versions of VS and MF and have always thought that the incremental improvements have been good value for money on the upgrade costs - this is the first time I've felt dissapointed. I hope the pricing structure is not a sign of Corel's current and future influence
I made exactly the same conclusions, except that I only downloaded the manual, browsed it quickly and saw that there was no change significant enough to buy it.
Not to mention it still does not allow more than one level of menus.
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.
Well, that's disapointing. I have a post in the DVD Workshop thread about looking for a replacement for DWS2. Moviefactory 5 is nowhere near good enough. I was hoping MF6 would be what I was looking for, but unfortunately it isn't (from what you guys say).
I agree with Kaledi. Why make improvements to the video editing side? That is what videostudio is for. MovieFactory should be all about DVD authoring.
Looking at the ads it appears that MF6 can create HD-DVD's on either a HD-DVD burner or a standard DVD. The ability to write to a standard dvd has been a request by many who own HD-DVD Players.
It doesn't appear to write a Blu-Ray Disc Menuing structure yet, I don't know.
Couldn't download the trial because it's not available yet.
Also the Plus appears to support 5.1 Dolby and there is also a reference to sub-titling.
Looks like most of the improvements have been in the HighDefintion part of the program.
George,
Even single sided dvd's give 20 minutes at full resolution. Anyone in my family never likes to watch videos very long. They will sit for a good while though viewing pictures.
I was in the progress of buying it... but it would refuse the coupon code I received last december (valid through 30/06/'07 for all Vista Compatible software versions, DVD MF 6 was mentioned specifically).

I had the same problem - indeed it isn't the first time valid coupons have been refused. I don't expect you'll get an answer from Ulead either

Hey I see you're in the US, so why not do it like standard there, 10 minutes clips and then you insert 5 minutes of commercial advertisements to revive the viewers interest?
(This was gratuitous criticism of something that I never saw. I'm thus overqualified.)
This my understanding of it.

Does anyone know if MF5Plus will allow me to put .MOV files from my digital camera onto standard DVD's to play in my DVD player please. Thanks and regards, Jim.

For standard DVD-VIDEO, your source videos will require encoding to mpeg2 (or mpeg-1). So it won't be able to use your *.MOV videos "asis" and be playable by standard DVD Players.
So, the question is whether the software can decode your source files. You might have to install some software that came with your device to get the codec onto your PC. I would recommend you download the TRIAL version, and load in one of your source *.MOV videos.
