Make text visible over light background?

I haven't found a way to make added text over slides visible except on a dark background. Transparency" from 0% to 100% doesn't help. Using shadow settings helps some, but at the expense of fuzzy edges.

Is there no way to add black text?

You can change the color of the text on the same page that you add or remove the shadow. It's the box up above. Click on it and it will open to show you the other choices.

Thanks a lot ! It's a perfectly plain white box to the right of the Left-Center-Right text alignment icons. And I see that there's also one for the color of the shadow.

Both were well hidden!
