I am getting ready to create my video file for my current project. When I typically edit my projects, I use the Instant Playback mode. Then when I¡¦m finished editing I change this setting to High Quality Playback, click the Project mode button under the preview window and then click the Play button, and VS10+ begins to do the ¡§rendering¡¨. After this is done, then I go to Share|Create Video File and create my compliant mpeg-2 video file. In the dialog box that comes up, there is a button called Options. I click on that and deselect Playback after creating file, deselect Perform Smart Rendering and tick the box for Non-square pixel rendering.
My question is this, is it unnecessary and a waste of time to ¡§render¡¨ the project file after editing by changing from Instant Playback to High Quality Playback before creating the video file? Is there any effect on video quality by going directly from editing in Instant Playback mode to Create video file in the Share step?
Each individual process could take an hour and a half for a 60 minute project. That¡¦s 3 hours total. I don¡¦t want to waste 1-1/2 hours if I don¡¦t need to. Thanks.

Hi Bryan,
AFAIK, the rendering during HQ playback just creates a temporary preview file. It is not rendering, or creating, your video file (which you do when you go to the Share step). They are two different things. So, in essence, you are wasting your time with the HQ playback.
FWIW I never turn on HQ preview. I just capture, edit, create video file, burn.
Sounds like you are nearing the Promised Land!
