Iam in the process of editing several AVI files with Ulead VS10+. I was successful with 4 project files. But not I'm having a problem editing the next project. After some editing and save it a few times, the play area and timeline become suddenly all black. In trying to reopen the VSP file, there is a message: 'Unable to read file' and "Some clips have not linked successfully"
Any help will be greatly appreciated

First are your "AVI' files DV, DivX, Xvid, MOV or some other video format? AVI is a container, that can have any of the above formats.
I suspect the black is due to the file(s) not being relinked, so VS does not know what image to show for the thumbnail, and thus what clip(s) it needs. It should present you with the option to browse for those clips that need relinked. Most of the time this is caused by the clips being moved from the original location, or being on a DVD or CD and the disc no longer being available in the drive tray.
To relink, click on a clip that needs relinked, you should get the warning about it needing to be relinked. If so browse to the location of the file, and click on it. You can also go to File>Relink, and VS will attempt to relink, or allow you to browse your system for the file(s)....

Also if you rename a file after useing it VS will need to re-link.Most of the time this is caused by the clips being moved from the original location, or being on a DVD or CD and the disc no longer being available in the drive tray.
To avoid these re-link problems I know rename all my files as soon as I capture to Hdd and before I use them. By default Ulead gives every'Video File' a UVS no based on the date of capture which is pretty useless, when you have accumulated hundreds of files.
Immediately after capture I go to the 'Partition' I've saved to -double clk to play it, choose some keywords to describe it (ZooTigerChimpJane07) right clk file- Rename.
Know it's much easier to find what I wan't at any time plus Windows has a 'Search Facillity' in every folder by typing in 'Tiger' Windows will display every video file with that word in the title much quicker than scanning hundreds of files for it. Hope that helps.
