Failure to burn

Post by happyhart »

 I am having a problem with my Ulead 5 plus I keep getting a Failed to burn data onto the disc error message. I have two different burners on the same computer. One only burn at 4x and the other up to 16x. Is any one else having this problem?

You may have a conflict with your other burning software. "Drag & drop" software (i.e. Nero In-CD) seems to take over the burner.

You can try disabling your other burning software, or create the DVD structure on your hard drive, and then use your regular burning software to make the actual DVD...

When you get to the "burn" step, check the box that says Create DVD folders and un-check Create Disc.

 Thanks maddrummer3301 & DVDDoug I tried both your advise and I'm still having the same problem. I'm going to try to uninstall MF5plus and reinstall I don't have Ulead Data installed and I use Drag-to-Disc religiously so I will try to disable it. I also tried writing to DVD folder with sucess but it still would not burn to DVD on either of my burners.

Internal error

Post by happyhart »

 If anyone can offer any other solutions I would be thankful. Not only am I getting "Failure to read data" error mess but also "There is an internal error in the DVD engine".
I uninstalled Ulead and reinstalled. Uninstalled Roxio 8 to get rid of Drag to Disc and deleted the Ulead data writting software I'm Not sure what else to try. I've also freed up enough space on my hard drive so that, that is not a factor. Help if anyone can.

After you read Steve's link. If you right_click on your dvd burner and goto properties the tabs in the properites page will list any additional drivers accessing your dvd burner.

I would think it's OK to have Roxio and ulead installed. Just make sure the Drag2Disk is disabled if your trying to use ulead to burn.
You can't have Ulead "Data-Add 2" active on your drive at the sametime Drag2Disk is active & loaded. They are both packet writers which write cd/dvd' in the UDF mode. So if you like and use Drag2Disk then disable the ulead packet writer or add/remove programs remove the "Data-Add 2" program, don't need it if your using Roxio. But you still have to disable the Drag2Disk packet writer from Roxio to use any other programs that need access to write a dvd disk.

Under the properites tab of your burner you can disable the ulead UDF writing in realtime without rebooting.
Simply uncheck the box under the Data-Add Tab", uncheck "Enable UDF Recording on this Drive".
If you have a "Recording Tab" uncheck those boxes also. Thats the windows recording tools. So you may have 3 programs causing the conflict on your system.

Usually it's easier to either create dvd folders or an iso file (or both) in the burning stage of MF. In the burning module right_click on the down arrow to display more burning options. The uncheck to directly burn a disk and checkon "Create Dvd folders" or create ISO file.
You can then burn the ISO file with Roxio to make the dvd. You can also use the ulead software, from the MF launcher screen under COPY DISK are the options to burn a dvd folder or an iso file.

My preference is to create dvd folders on the harddisk then burn them to a dvd after testing the dvd using a software player which plays the dvd folders from your harddisk (powerdvd or windvd).
Roxio should also be able to burn a DVD-Video DVD using the dvd folders. When using another program you just have to be careful and make sure the program creates a Dvd-Video dvd or not a data dvd.
