I absolutely love DWS2, but it's really starting to show it's age. Escpecially now with HD video and Vista. It doesn't seem as though DWS3 will ever happen. So what ULEAD program do you guys recommend using now for DVD authoring. I tried DVD movieFactory 5 and I find it very weak. What is closest to to DWS2 in power and control, yet also easy to use?
Ok, doesn't JUST have to be a Ulead program, however Ulead would be preferable.

Ulead's MovieFactory offers 16:9 Menus, and also "Basic" HD-DVD (using mpeg2).
I don't have any info on the next DWS3 (or equivalent). Just trying to get an idea of what are the "must have" features that people are needing/using (for SD DVD and/or HD DVD Authoring).
Regards,
George

There isn't much in DWS 2 that I don't use. eg:
-Making buttons out of ANYTHING (pics, videos, text)
-Can have chapters, that aren't represented as buttons in the menu, but are still present (on the dvd)
-Can EASILY put text and pics/videos anywhere on the menu and quickly move them around.
-Have full control over menu order and what links to what
-BASICALLY being able to easily do ANYTHING without having to follow a template.
I'd like to retain most of DWS2's features and simply add Vista and HD support
I'm downloading the Intervideo WinDVD Creator 3 Platinum trial right now. Let's see what it does....
***EDIT***
Ok, I didn't have much time and only got to play with winDVD Creator for about 15 minutes. It Doesn't look promising. Initial impression:
-Easy to use interface
-SEEMS to work fine in Vista
-lots of templates (but I never use templates)
-I'd give the ability to customize menus 5/10. You can select chapters, but if you have two or more videos it handles them as If they were 1 long video. MUST have an inital menu with "play" and "scenes" buttons.
The lack of total freedom in menu creation makes this program useless to me. The ease of use of the program is however nice. WinDVD isn't too bad, but there's no way I could "downgrade" to it after using DWS2.
I'll play with it more tonight and/or tomorrow.
Anyone else try anything they like?

I've given up on waiting for WS3 and went with Sonic's DVDit Pro HD and am very happy with it! Sonic has proven that they will keep up with the technology by releasing the latest version that does include Blu-Ray support and 16x9 menus. Also, I found the interface very easy to learn with a very small learning curve. It's true that it does not support HD DVD, but that could change in the future as burners and players become more available.

The rumors are flying that Corel has decided to kill the DVD WORKSHOP product.
I hope the rumors are false, but Corel's Web site appears to be missing virtually *every* professional Ulead application except PhotoImpact.
So that suggests that DVD WORKSHOP, MEDIASTUDIO PRO, COOL 3D PRODUCTION STUDIO may all be dead.
It isn't kind of Corel to be silent on this issue.
Many of us have invested literally hours and hours training in these Ulead programs.
We deserve an answer: yes or no.
I'm getting pretty steamed at Corel's insensitive behavior, frankly.
