enough has changed that I am in need of a paper guide, including tricks and short cuts and recommendations that I can grab and look at while not in front of the monitor screen. I am not referring to the UL manual that comes with it (I have that), rather one that is written bu some others out there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Short of searching Google for PI tutorials, I would go to PIRC EZ Boards
and post a question asking for some printable tutorials. Maureen has been seen here a couple of times, and I know she hangs out on PIRC EZboards, and she is one of several very, very knowledgeable people when it comes to PI.

If you head over to http://www.pircnet.com/ you will find a lot of tutorials for all the different PI versions but, best of all, you can enrol into a free beginners workshop. You will be assigned a mentor who, on a one to one basis, assesses your completed lessons. This will give you such a head start that you won't have time to look for anything printed on the subject.

thankyou for the thoughts but I really am looking for a book. I am familiar with PI..just looked in a cabinet and saw that I have versions from 4.0. up..and yes since 4.0 UL tech help was next to useless....but way back then I could in fact talk to someone!!!
The keyboard short cuts have changed around over the past few versions, etc, etc...so I was hoping to find a complete, uptodate source, in book form.
Maybe no one is willing to put forward the effort for this product?

Have you checked out the online documentation available at this link?
http://www.ulead.com/pi/documents.htm
There is the PI 12 User Manual there for download. Rather hefty size, but if you have a printer (one that will do double-sided to kill fewer trees!), you could print out the hard copy...

Hi wymjym,
One good way of learning tips/tricks as you call them, is to take a course in the Beginner's Workshop. Here you will learn many aspects of using PI, regardless of what version you have. It's a 96 tutorial course and believe me, very well worth it.
As for a manual on PhotoImpact, don't expect much as their manual only gives you basic information on what the program actually does.
If you are interested, follow the links my collegues gave you here and good luck
