PI 12 ICM Printer Profile Problem

Post by JohannesH »

Hi!

I am using PhotoImpact 12 german version. After doing a search here in the forum I could not find an answer, so I try it this way.

I use ColorVision PrintFIXPro to produce ICM profiles for my printers to get accurate color printings. The ICM profiles are stored under this path:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\driver\color\name.icm

Applications that support color management find this profiles there.

Now here is my problem:
PhotoImpact does NOT offer me this profiles within its color management dialog. In fact it offers very few profiles from within this path (see above) but NOT the profiles I produced with PrintFIXPro.

I have noticed, that PI does some kind of filtering for the profiles listed within the dialog - if I have choosen eg. "printer1" then only profiles for this printer are offered. Again this are NOT ALL profiles for this printer, only some.

This leads me to the questions: Does PI only support some special kind of ICM printer profiles? Are there special requirements with the naming of the ICM profiles? Is there maybe another path where PI searches for ICM profiles?

Any other ideas?
Your feedback is welcome
regards

Johannes,

# To add the color profile for your printer. Refer to this product document from Microsoft for the instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docu ... x?mfr=true (Note: You should load all the available color profiles applicable for your printer, you may have to change it in case you use a different paper type for printing);
# Enable "Color Management" from within PhotoImpact (File -> Preferences -> Color Management) and select the corresponding color profiles for your printer and monitor to match.
I Rip. I Burn. I Conquer.
