exporting movie with alpha channel how

Post by shaun »

And now I wish to attempt this feat. i`ve tried but failed to create a video file with alpha channel applied. I would like to composite a 3d animation image into an anime studio project. AS accepts movs with alpha channel and PNG. images.I believe you can insert an image sequence into MSP editor but thats not what I require.

Shaun,
There are many ways to create an animation in COOL3D PS with an alpha channel. Use Create Video and select None for Compression and 32 bit AVI in Options. Under File, there is also an Export Video Overlay option for AVI or TGA. For TGA image sequence check transparency box and save. Import it into MSP as an .uis, MSP treats the image sequence as a video file on the timeline with alpha channel preserved. One can also create GIF with transparency and SWF as well. Last but not least, you can also save your COOL3D project as native .c3d and import it into either VideoStudio or MSP with alpha channel retained.

Hope this helps.

The possibilities of importing into MSP are exactly what Shaun does not need to know:
AS accepts movs with alpha channel and PNG
Unless you were trying to hint at creating a 32 bit AVI and using something to convert it to MOV?

Snoops,
Thanks for catching those details. I just read that Shaun wanted to know how to save an alpha channel in COOL3D PS. As for creating a MOV or PNG in COOL3D PS, this cannot be done. By chance, can Anime Studio accept the 32 bit RGB AVI created in COOL3D PS. At least, I explained how to do this in my post. Can't hurt to give it a try.

Yes thats right. For AS applications. I haven`t any success with importing any c3d animation into AS with alpha channel preserved. I located the demo of sony vegas movie studio which enables me to add alpha mask to avi and export as mov/png. The results are typically lofi but worth the effort ,to see what is creatively possible at least.

Ok success. export as uncompressed 32bit avi, import to AS and check `avi has alpha`. hey presto. No success with mov. yet though.
